Knowing
It is a wonderful thing when the Lord speaks to us. We experience knowing. Real, honest-to-goodness knowing. The kind of knowing that comes only when the Spirit speaks within. We know that we know that we know. Take, for example, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We know it occurred. We have no doubt whatsoever that this historical event happened --- despite the fact that we were not there to actually witness it. How do we know? We know, because the Holy Spirit has revealed it to us, within, where God and man are one. If every book on the face of this planet were destroyed tomorrow, we would still know that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead! Inner knowing, that which is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit, is the very thing upon which Jesus Christ has built His glorious Church. This inner knowing is the only thing that we can truly count on. When God gives us inner knowing, what He has said is more real to us than our emotions and our circumstances. Knowing is not a thought, not an emotion, not a wish. It results when the Lord Himself bears witness to our spirit that a certain thing is true. Knowing is as natural as the sun coming up in the morning. If we told the world (and many believers) some of the things we know, they would say, "You're out of your cotten-pickin mind!" What we know cannot be defended in any way. We cannot provide any proof. And yet we know it's true, because we HEARD it.
